Boyden Refuge is located in Taunton, MA. The western edge of the property is bordered by the Three Mile River. It is a popular place for hiking and many people also walk their dogs there. I usually hike there once a week with a friend and sometimes also with family members. When with other people, I am usually so engaged in conversation and barely notice my surroundings except in a very general way. When hiking solo, and if able to slow down enough, there are many strange and interesting things to be noticed and photographed.
Faces can sometimes be seen in the trunks of trees such as in this example below which resembles an elephant.
The main trail extends along the property ending at a waterfall. With the arrival of Autumn, the leaves of the beech trees glow in the soft light.
A foggy morning in late October and many of the leaves have fallen. The surface of the Three Mile River is smooth and the trees are mirrored on its surface. In the distance, the fog is lifting and will soon be gone.
